The US Congress and President Bush refuse to renew the tax incentives that will bring clean energy to the U.S. The current incentives expire this year. Their lack of renewal is already harming the solar and wind industries.
Each year in the US, coal power claims 25,000 lives, causes respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses and leads to potential neurological damage for 630,000 newborns.
Globally there are more than 170,000 deaths as a result of the chemicals and pollutants spread by coal power.
